I’m going to approach this slightly counter-intuitively: I’m almost always doing assignment viewing on planes, EXCEPT flights to Europe where I need to sleep. I’ve finally found out the the combo of melatonin and a subtitled movie to tire out my brain is the ideal cocktail, and the perfect movie to do it with is … PERFECT DAYS, which has such a soothing and zen quality that lulls me sweetly into counting sheep 💆🏻♂️
I watch really devastating films because I know I'm locked in a tin can with no escape - Schindler's List, Werckmeister Harmonies...the like. Kinda psychotic I know
you can watch the whole thing plus another film on an ATL -- LA flight, OR you can do half of it from ATL to NYC and the other half on the way back. One time my seat mate watched it with me on the way to NYC but it did NOT lead to a relationship so it doesn't count as a cute meet but that would have ripped if it did.
I watched Dune pt 1 and 2 on a plane without headphones, absolutely the most blasphemous thing I've ever done. But I didn't want to ask ask for headphones. Both pretty good! ( Probably better had I watched them how god intended)

I have a few follow up questions. How long is the flight and how many hrs into it do you take the melatonin? And do you get to finish the movie?
Usually 8-9 hour flights, I take the melatonin with dinner … maybe I make it halfway through the movie? I may or may not finish when I wake up.
I always gravitate to comedies (recent selections have included Barb & Starr Go To Vista Del Mar, The Wedding Singer, Clueless and Bridesmaids)
I've definitely watched Bridesmaids on at least 4 flights to date

No this makes sense to me. I won't do it but it makes sense

Crazy Rich Asians every single flight and it’s the only time I rewatch it so it always feels really special
She's in the news, folks!
Oceans eleven every time. Or any movie I can follow along without headphones on while I read
